Travel back in time and visit the personalities and the watercraft that traveled the waters of Lake Minnetonka for several decades.  Join Wayzata Historical Society and featured speaker F. Todd Warner as he shares his archives, photos, and stories of the boats, their builders and the ups and downs of Lake Minnetonka’s boating history through the years.

Beginning in 1889, with one of Wayzata’s premier boat builders Royal C. Moore, the boat building era on Wayzata Bay begins.  The property which began as Moore Boat Works continued on as the  Minnetonka Boat Works.  Today we know this building as the home of Wayzata Brew Works, 6 Smith, and office spaces.

Throughout its history, this building produced sailboats, rowboats, launches, steamboats, runabouts,  and Tonka Craft speedboats.  The program will feature never before seen photos as well as highlighting the Wayzata Speed Boat Races of the late 1930s.

Join us Monday, July 9 at the Wayzata Brew Works, 294 Grove Lane East.  The program begins at 7:00 p.m.  Come and enjoy a beautiful summer evening along the shores of Wayzata Bay and plan to spend some time socializing after the program.
